MAINTENANCE
REAR
Check the action of the shock absorber by com-
pressing it several times.
Check the entire shock absorber assembly for dam-
age or loose fasteners.
Replace damaged components which cannot be
repaired.
Tighten all fasteners.
For rear shock absorber service (page 16-12).
Raise the rear wheel off the ground by supporting
the scooter on its centerstand.
Check for worn engine hanger bushings by grab-
bing the rear wheel and attempting to move the
wheel side to side.

NUTS, BOLTS, FASTENERS

Check that all chassis nuts and bolts are tightened to
their correct torque values (page 1-12).
Check that all cotter pins, safety clips, hose clamps
and cable stays are in place and properly secured.

WHEELS/TIRES

Support the scooter with its centerstand.
Making sure that the fork is not allowed to move,
raise the front wheel and check for play.
Check for worn front wheel bearings by grabbing
the front wheel and attempting to move the wheel
side to side.
Replace the front wheel bearings if any looseness is
noted (page 15-6).
Turn the wheel and check that it rotates smoothly
with no unusual noises.
If any abnormal conditions are suspected, inspect
the front wheel bearings (page 15-6).
