Upgrade the S8300

This section describes the procedures to upgrade the S8300B Media Server from a 2.x release
of Communication Manager to release 3.0. To upgrade from a pre-2.0, use the procedures in
Chapter 11: Upgrade of an existing S8300A to R3.0 with manual upgrade of G700

Manually upgrading the S8300

Perform the following tasks to upgrade the S8300 to the most recent load of software:
1.

Installing new software

2. Making the upgrade permanent
3. Installing post-upgrade Communication Manager service pack file from your laptop, if
any on page 671
Installing new software
The first step in upgrading the S8300B Media Server to Communication Manager 3.0 is to copy
the appropriate software release to the server hard drive using the Manage Software screens of
the Web Interface (see
page 661). The next step is installation of that release, which is now resident on the S8300B
hard drive, onto the S8300 Media Server. After you have finished with the Copy Complete
screen, click Continue. The Choose Software of the Manage Software: Install screen
displays.
