SECTION 03 TRANSMISSION
SUB-SECTION 03 (DRIVE PULLEY)
REMOVAL
CD ®
With engine cold, remove spark plug(s) then bring
P.T.O. (Power Take Off) piston at T.D.C. (Top Dead
Center) position.
Rotate drive pulley 45° clockwise then
insert
enough
starter rope into cylinder to fill it completely.

WARNING: Spring pressure can force assembly
apart; therefore, it is imperative that the governor
cup be held firmly during governor retaining bolt
remo-
val.
If it is necessary to remove the
inner
half, slide a length
of steel pipe over shaft. Attach with a
5/16"
nut and
bolt, as illustrated
.
The inner half can then be removed
with a pipe wrench. (Uncrew counterclockwise.)

Use as required, maximum of two (2). Used to obtain a
neutral function of the drive pulley when engine is idling

refer to INSTALLATION.

Used to obtain correct pulley alignment, refer to sec-
tion
03-05.
CLEANING
Clean pulley faces and shaft with fine steel wool and dry
clotch. Clean outer half bushing with clean dry cloth.
INSTALLATION
Lock crankshaft in position as explained in removal pro-
cedure. Make sure crankshaft is rotated 45° counter-
clockwise from T.D.C. position and that cylinder is
completely filled with a starter rope.
Clean crankshaft extension and apply antiseize on the
unthreaded portion and Loctite 242 or equivalent on
threads, (as illustrated) then install inner half on exten-
sion
.
