Using a feeler gauge measure distance between thrust
washer and crankshaft balancer. If the distance exceeds
specified tolerance, repair or replace the crankshaft.
CONNECTING ROD ALIGNMENT
Check if connecting rod is bent as follows:
-
Once engine crankcase is assembled with the piston
mounted on connecting rod without its piston rings,
position cylinder on piston.

NOTE: The cylinder/crankcase gasket must not
be installed.
- Rotate crankshaft slowly and at the same time
ob-
serve piston movement within the cylinder. If piston
bears against one side (PTO or mag. side), the con
-
necting rod is bent.

To correct position needle bearing and gudgeon pin
on connecting rod then pry connecting rod as
illustrat-
ed
.

end-play is adjusted with shims located be-
tween crankshaft and magneto side bearing.

CAUTION: Always
install
end play adjustment shims

shaft blade.
The following is required for the adjustment procedure:
- adjustment shims (refer to parts catalog)
