SECTION 02 ENGINE
SUB-SECTION 05 (464 ENGINE TYPE)
CLEANING
Discard all oil seals, gaskets, "0" rings and sealing
rings .
Clean all metal components in a non-ferrous metal clean-
er. Remove old "Loctite" from crankcase mating sur-
faces with Bombardier sealant stripper.
_ CAUTION: Never use a sharp object to scrape
" away old sealant as score marks incurred are
detrimental to crankcase sealing.

General
To remove drive pulley, refer to "Drive Pulley", section
03, sub-section 03.
To remove magneto, refer to "Magneto" in this section.

To remove bearings from crankshaft use a protective
cap special puller as illustrated.

The inspection of the engine bottom end must include

Prior to installation, place bearings into an oil con-
tainer previously heated to 100 0
e
(210 0 F). This will ex-
pand bearing and ease installation. Install bearings with
oil seal groove as per the following illustration.
@At seal assembly, apply a light coat of lithium grease
on seal lips.
For bearing lubrication purpose, a gap of 1.0 mm
(,040") must be maintained between seals and bearings.
When installing plain seals (seal without locating ring or
without spacing legs), ensure to maintain the specified
gap as illustrated.

Crankcase halves are factory matched and there-
fore, are not interchangeable or available as single
halves. Prior to joining of crankcase halves, apply a light
coat of "Loctite
515"
(413702700) on mating surfaces.
_ CAUTION: Before joining of crankcase halves be
" sure that crankshaft rotary valve gear is well en-
gaged with rotary valve shaft gear.
