Verify that all system labeling is present and in readable condition.
Inspect the system for dents, scratches or cracks.
Clean the Covers as described in
Verify all covers are secured in place and are properly aligned with other covers.
Replace any covers that are damaged.
Clean the LCD Display as described in
Inspect the LCD Display for scratches and raster burns.
Verify proper operation of Contrast and Brightness controls. For details, see
Display Adjustment and Calibration" on page
Confirm that the LCD arm allows:
• swivelling the screen to the left and to the right
• folding the screen to the locked position
• release and adjustment backwards and forwards
• on Vivid S6 N systems, also confirm the LCD screen can be adjusted in the
up/down positions.
Clean the Control Panel and Keyboard as described in
Inspect the Control Panel and Keyboard. Note any damaged or missing items.
(Replace faulty components, as required).
Verify proper operation of Control Panel backlighting and TGC sliders. Verify ease
of up/down movement and make sure that the upper console holds its set position
when the handle is released and that there is no play on the mechanism.
Check that the keyboard swivel mechanism allows release and rotation to the left
and right.
Clean the probe holders as described in
Inspect the Probe Holders for cracks or damage.
Check all four wheels and castors for wear.
Check the brakes on each of the two front wheels. Make sure that pressing the
brake locks the wheel, preventing it from swivelling or rolling and therefore stopping
movement of the system.
Verify that releasing the brakes allows free movement of the system.
Clean the drive head and media with the vendor-supplied cleaning kit. Advise the
user to repeat this often, to prevent future problems. MOD disks must be stored
away from dust and cigarette smoke. Do not use alcohol or benzene to clean the
MOD cartridge.

Check all internal cable harnesses and connectors for wear, and secure connector
seating. Pay special attention to probe strain or bend reliefs.
Check the power cord for cuts, loose hardware, tire marks, exposed insulation or
other deterioration, and verify continuity. Tighten the clamps that secure the power
cord to the unit and the outlet plug to the cord.
Replace the power cord and clamp, as required.
