Acceptance Testing
4.3.1 Console Tests (Cont)
Step
13. Ensure that AEC is selected.
Press the film-screen select button.
14. Select 60 kV, 50 mA, 100 ms.
Press the PREP button.
15. Press the X-ray button.

Ensure that AEC is selected.
Press the individual AEC field select buttons in
sequence.
17. Press the power OFF button on the console.

Low Speed Starter Verification

Step
1. Connect a current probe to the common lead
of the X-ray tube stator.
Switch ON the console.
Press and hold the PREP button.
2. Measure the rotor boost time.
3. Use a strobe or reed tachometer and verify
that the tube reaches operating speed at the
end of boost.
4. Switch OFF the console.
4.3.3 Dual Speed Starter (Optional) Verification
THE GENERATOR MUST BE PROGRAMMED FOR DUAL SPEED STARTER OPERATION IN ORDER
TO BE ABLE TO VERIFY BOTH MODES OF OPERATION IN THIS SECTION. DO NOT DO SO IF A
TUBE IS USED THAT CANNOT OPERATE AT BOTH LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS.

Step
1. Connect a current probe to the common lead

Select 70 kV, minimum mA, 50 ms.
Press and hold the PREP button.
2. Measure the rotor boost time.

Result
The three film-screen LED's (I, II,
III) alternately light as the switch
is pressed.
The LED adjacent to the prep
button lights.
The X-ray warning indicator
lights during an X-ray exposure,
and an audible tone is heard
from the console.
The LEFT, CENTER, and RIGHT
field selection LED's should light
as each field is selected.
The unit switches off.
Result
A 60 Hz waveform dropping to
less than half amplitude after
prep is complete.
Should be approximately 1.5 sec.
Speed ≥ 3300 RPM.

Should agree with the value in

the supplement at the end of
