Correcting Thumbnail Appearance on Non-Local Systems

When using the Live Capture Web Application from a non-local machine, a user may
see "No Event" instead of the video thumbnails. If so, you will need to update the hosts
file on the computer you are using to access the Web Applications. The following
procedures describe how to correct this is for Apple and Windows machines.

Apple Computer Procedure to Correct Thumbnail Appearance

On an Apple computer, you will add the server IP address and hostname to the
/etc/hosts file and save it. Perform the following procedure:
1. Open the Terminal application by going to Application > Utilities and double-
2. Type the following command and press Return: sudo nano /etc/hosts
3. Enter the administrator password for the computer and press Return.
4. Move the cursor using the arrow keys and position it after all of the text in the
5. Press the Tab key, then type the hostname of the Lightspeed Live Capture server.
6. Hold down the Control and 0 keys.
7. Press the Return key.
8. Hold down Control and X to exit.
9. Flush your DNS by typing the following command in the Terminal and pressing

Windows Computer Procedure to Correct Thumbnail
Appearance
On a Windows computer, you will add the IP address and hostname to your hosts file
and save it. Perform the following procedure:
1. Open File Explorer and navigate to: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc.
2. Right-click the hosts file and open it in Notepad.
3. On a new line, enter the IP address of your Lightspeed Live Capture server.
4. Press the Tab key.
5. Enter the hostname of your Lightspeed Live Capture server.
6. Save the file and close the Notepad application.
