Capturing an Entire Tape

Capture an entire tape—When selected, enters Mark In and Mark Out timecode
values that instruct the Tape UI to capture the entire tape from the beginning of the
tape to the ending of the tape. A dialog asks you to confirm that you want to capture
the whole tape. When you click CAPTURE, the tape is rewound to the beginning and
captures the content on the whole tape until EOT (End of Tape) is reached.
Source Display—The bottom of the panel displays the VTR source for the current clips.

Timecode Break Recording

To set up a timecode break clip capture, which is a process that automatically creates a
new recorded clip file when a break in the timecode is detected, insert the tape and
make sure the Tape Capture action is configured as described below.
See
Timecode Discontinuity Definition
timecode break.
Within the Tape action these configuration options control timecode break recording:
If you wish to adjust these configuration options from the Tape user interface, you may
bind them to variables so they are available directly from the Tape UI. If you prefer, you
can create new variables and name them so that they will make sense to you when you
access them in the Tape UI. Your variables will appear and can be enabled, disabled, or
changed under the gear icon
After you've set up your workflow configuration and logged your clips, click Capture to
initiate timecode break recording. Another option is to use the Capture Entire Tape
feature. See
Generally tapes configured with timecode breaks have been recorded using time of
day timecode. Once activated the Timecode Break feature will create separate files
when a break in the timecode is detected. To accommodate dropped frames when the
tape was recorded, a Frame Threshold parameter is available.
Note: The following configuration options affect how files are created in a Timecode
Break workflow. It is important to understand how each option affects the files that are
created. Some experimentation may be necessary to create the results desired.
