Lightspeed Live Capture Resource Calculator

Lightspeed Live Capture Resource Calculator
Lightspeed Live Capture uses a variety of codecs and format containers to encode live
video into media files. At the simplest level, Lightspeed Live Capture consists of
customizable workflow actions that automate the live capture process. A workflow is
the mechanism you create that takes an incoming live source and encodes it into one
of many available codec and container formats.
Note: When Live Capture and Live Stream are used on the same Lightspeed Live
server, use the
Lightspeed Live Guide, Creating Stream Channels chapter) along with the Live Capture
Resource Calculator describe here to determine how Capture and Stream can best
share a Lightspeed Live server's resources.
The Lightspeed Live server has four (4) SD/HD/3G-SDI inputs that can be used to
capture up to four (4) SD/HD formatted files or one (1) UHD/4K formatted file. One or
more Lightspeed Live Capture workflows can be driven by a single source input. This
allows the user to configure their system to create more than one output format type
from a single source input. For example, if your capture workflow requires two hi-res
capture output files, such as DNxHD 220 and Apple ProRes HQ, Lightspeed Live Capture
can be used for this by creating two Capture origin actions that use the same source
input.
The figure below shows four (4) SDI-HD inputs. SDI Input 1 is connected to two (2)
workflows, and SDI Input 2, 3, and 4 are each connected to a single workflow.
The input source/workflow flexibility described above, combined with the wide array of
codecs available on a Lightspeed Live server, make it important that all processes being
performed on a Lightspeed Live server do not exceed its total processing capabilities.
