Assembling & Installing the RS-422 Interface Box and Rack
Mount Tray
The USB to RS-422 Interface Box and Rack Mount Tray must first be assembled and then
installed. It is best installed in the rear of the equipment rack, to be close to the
Lightspeed Live server USB ports. The rack tray can hold two RS-422 Interface Boxes,
but the standard 4-Port RS-422 Interface Kit only includes one RS-422 Interface Box.
To assemble and install the USB to RS-422 Interface Box and Rack Mount Tray, follow
these steps:
1. Position the RS-422 Interface Box on the Rack Mount Tray so the USB port is on the
back side and the four RS-422 ports face the front, where the rack mounting
brackets are located.
2. Align two of the tray holes with the RS-422 Interface Box screw holes and use two
of the Stainless Steel Phillips rounded-head M3 x 0.5 mm-thread x 5 mm-long
screws to attach the Interface Box.
Note: There are two sets of holes in the Rack Mount Tray at each Interface Box
position, the extra holes are to accommodate other models of interface devices. One
set of holes aligns with the RS-422 Interface Box.
3. Insert the USB cable into the
rear of the RS-422 Interface
Box.
Fasten the USB cable to the tray
by inserting the tie wrap
through the raised anchor tab
and tighten it to secure the
cable.
