TROUBLESHOOTING
STEP
1
Was "AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DIAGNOSTIC FLOW
TABLE" performed?

Check Output Shaft Speed Sensor for Resistance.
1) Disconnect output shaft speed sensor connector with
ignition switch OFF.
2) Check for proper connection to output shaft speed
sensor at "P" and "Bl" wire terminals.
3) If OK, then check resistance of output shaft speed
sensor. See Fig. 1.

Resistance between terminal
and transmission
Are check results satisfactory?

Check visually output shaft speed sensor and counter
shaft gear for the following.
See Fig. 2 and 3.
D No damage
D No foreign material attached
D Correct installation
Are they in good condition?
Fig. 1 for Step 2.
ACTION
: 100 – 300 W
: 1 MW or more
Fig. 2 for Step 3.

YES
Go to Step 2.
Go to Step 3.
"P" or "Bl" wire open or
shorted to ground or
poor C20-11 or C20-10
for vehicle with WU-
TWC (C21-3 or C21-14
for vehicle without WU-
TWC) connection.
If wire and connection
are OK, intermittent
trouble or faulty PCM.
Check for intermittent
referring to "INTER-
MITTENT AND POOR
CONNECTION" in Sec-
tion 0A.
Fig. 3 for Step 3.
NO
Go to
"AUTOMATIC
TRANSMISSION
DIAGNOSTIC
FLOW TABLE".
Replace output
shaft speed
sensor.
Clean, repair or
replace.
