4A-10 FRONT DRIVE SHAFT
INSTALLATION
Install drive shaft assembly by reversing removal procedure and
noting following points.
D Clean front wheel bearing oil seal and then apply grease.
1. Front wheel bearing oil
seal
2. Suspension arm
D When install left side drive shaft, install wheel side joint to steer-
D When install right side drive shaft, install tripod joint to differential
D Apply sealant to drain plug for manual transmission.
D Tighten each bolt and nut to specified torque.
D Fill transmission with oil as specified.
Replace it if required.

CAUTION:
D To avoid excessive expansion of boot and conse-
quential disconnection of joint in boot, do not pull
tripod joint housing.
D Protect oil seals and boots from any damage, pre-
venting them form unnecessary contact while
installing drive shaft.
D Do not hit joint boot with hammer. Inserting joint
only by hands is allowed.
D Make sure that differential side joint is inserted fully
and its snap ring is seated as it was.
NOTE:
D For automatic transmission, carry out full step of fluid
level check procedure i.e. ROOM TEMPERATURE LEVEL
CHECK first, and then NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERA-
TURE LEVEL CHECK, referring to SECTION 7B.
D Check toe seating and adjust as required.
