5) Install brake shoes, referring to steps 1) and 2) of "INSTALLA-
TION" under "REMOVE AND INSTALL BRAKE SHOE" in this
section.
6) Install brake drum, referring to steps 1) to 4) of "INSTALLA-
TION" under "REMOVE AND INSTALL BRAKE DRUM" in this
section.
7) Fill reservoir with brake fluid and bleed brake system by refer-
ring to "BLEEDING BRAKES" in this section.
8) Upon completion of all jobs, depress brake pedal with about
30 kg (66 lbs) load three to five times so as to obtain proper
drum-to-shoe clearance.
Adjust parking brake cable. Refer to "PARKING BRAKE IN-
SPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT" in this section.
9) Install parking brake lever cover.
10) Install wheel and tighten wheel nuts to specified torque.
Tightening Torque

(c): 85 N
m (8.5 kg-m, 61.5 lb-ft)
11) Check to ensure that brake drum is free from dragging and
proper braking is obtained. Then remove vehicle from hoist
and perform brake test (foot brake and parking brake).
12) Check each installed part for oil leakage.
REMOVE AND INSTALL BRAKE BACK

REMOVAL
1) Hoist vehicle and remove wheel.
2) For 2WD vehicle, remove spindle cap by hammering lightly at
3 locations around it so as not to deform or cause damage to
seating part of cap.
3) Uncaulk spindle nut and remove spindle nut and washer.
For 4WD vehicle, pull up parking brake lever fully and loosen
spindle nut (drive shaft nut).
4) Perform Steps 2) to 6) of "REMOVAL" under "REMOVE AND
INSTALL BRAKE DRUM" in this section.
