D Install brake cable spring and nipple end to parking brake shoe
Up side
lever securely as shown.
D For brake shoe installation, refer to steps 1) and 2) of "INSTAL-
LATION" under "REMOVAL AND INSTALL BRAKE SHOE" in
this section.
D For brake drum installation, refer to steps 1) and 7) of "INSTAL-
LATION" under "REMOVAL AND INSTALL BRAKE DRUM" in
this section.
D For proper routing and secure clamping of parking brake cable.
Refer to figure in "PARKING BRAKE ROUTING".
D For installation of cable to parking brake lever, refer to "INSTAL-
LATION" under "REMOVAL AND INSTALL PARKING BRAKE
LEVER" in this section.
D Upon completion of installation, adjust cable by referring to
"PARKING BRAKE INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT" in this
section. Then check brake drum for dragging and brake system
for proper performance. After removing vehicle from hoist, brake
test should be performed.
[For vehicles with rear disc brake]
Install parts in reverse order of removal procedure, noting the fol-
lowing.
D Install parking brake cable E-ring to caliper's parking brake cable
bracket securely. Also note the direction of E-ring by referring to
figure in "PARKING BRAKE ROUTING" when fastening.
Tightening Torque for parking brake cable bracket bolt
46 N·m (4.6 kg-m, 33.0 lb-ft)
D Install parking brake cable clip and pin securely. Also note the direc-
tion of pin when fastening.
