4A-2 FRONT DRIVE SHAFT
1. Drive shaft nut
A: Undo caulking
1. Knuckle
2. Ball stud bolt and nut
3. Suspension arm
1. Knuckle
2. Drive shaft
REMOVAL
RIGHT SIDE SHAFT WITH CENTER SHAFT
AND LEFT SIDE SHAFT
Refer to REMOVAL description in SECTION 4 of this manual.
RIGHT SIDE SHAFT WITHOUT CENTER
SHAFT
1) Undo caulking and remove drive shaft nut and washer.
2) With vehicle lifted up, remove wheel.
3) Drain transmission oil.
4) Disconnect tie-rod end from knuckle with special tool (A).
Special Tool
(A): 09913-65210
5) Disconnect stabilizer joint from suspension arm.
1. Tie-rod end
2. Knuckle
6) Remove ball stud bolt, and then separate knuckle from suspen-
sion arm (ball stud).
7) Pull out drive shaft joint from steering knuckle.
CAUTION:
D When removing steering knuckles, never pull brake
hose.
D To prevent breakage of boots, be careful not to
bring them into contact with other parts, when re-
moving drive shaft assembly.
