process agai n . When the probl e m has been si m ul a ted
t w i ce , the MI L l i g hts up and the DTCs are recorded I n
the ECM.

Clear the DTC.

The DTC and freezed frasme data will be erased by either
action.

code s.
NOTI C E: (2) Disconnecting the battery terminals or EFI fuse.

3. I N SPECT DI A G NOSI S ( C heck Mode)
HINT:
TOYOTA hand-held tester only:
Compared to the normal mode, the check mode has an in­
creased sensitivity to detect malfunctions.
Furthermore, the same diagnostic items which are detected in
the normal mode can also be detected in the check mode.
Check the DTC.

Initial conditions

Battery positive voltage 1 1 V or more.
•

Throttle valve fully closed.
Transmission in HPH or
Air conditioning switched OFF.
Turn ignition switch OFF.

Prepare lhe TOYOTA hand-held tester.

Connect the TOYOTA hand-held tester to the

DLC3 under the instrument panel lower pad.
If there is no DTC in normal mode, check the 1st trip DTC using
Continuous Test Results function (Mode 7 for SAE J1979) on
the 08011 scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester.
