4. Remove and discard the upper control arm
cotter pin.
5. Remove the upper control arm nut.
6. Support the steering knuckle (3) with a floor jack.
7. Use J 39549 in order to separate the upper
ball joint (1) from the steering knuckle (3).
8. With the upper control arm in a raised position,
drill out the four rivets approximately
6 mm (0.25 in) deep using a 1 /s inch drill bit.
\ 9. Drill out the rivet heads using a
V2
inch drill bit.
