4. Remove the dust cover from the optical bore and insert the fiber optic connector.

Depending on the transceiver manufacturer, the SFP transceiver can use different types of locking
and extractor mechanisms.
The following figures show typical mechanisms used on SFP transceivers; other locking and
extractor mechanisms exist, although they are not shown here. In the following figure, the SFP is
shown with the port plug. Rotate the bail release to the horizontal position, then pull the bail to
release the device.

Removing an SFP

Remove an SFP to replace it or to commission it elsewhere.
