USB Interface at the HMI
NOTE
i
i
If you connect the HMI to the device via cable, use the USB port of the HMI. In this case, the maximum
length of your USB connecting cable is 2 m.
Connections at Port F
If the interface is used for communication with the device, the data connection is to be checked.

GPS Interface
Via the SMB socket, you can connect an active GPS antenna (5 V max. 50 mA such as Trimble® Bullet™ III GPS
antenna). When using the 7SC80 as SNTP server (and also additional applications), Siemens recommends
using the antenna kit 7XV5663-0AA00 and a lightning protection, if necessary.
If no GPS interface is available, there is a cover instead.
If you have connected the device to the PC via Ethernet, you will receive status information regarding GPS
reception via the web browser at your device address, for example: http://192.168.10.106/gps.html.
IRIG-B Interface
Via the ST socket, you can connect a time signal transmitter with an optical IRIG-B interface (B005, B007,
IEE1344).
If no IRIG-B interface is available, there is a cover instead.
Checking the Time Synchronization Interface
When connecting the time signal transmitter (GPS or IRIG-B), the specified technical data must be observed
(see Chapter 4 Technical Data, "Time Synchronization Interface"). The GPS module supplies UTC time, irrespec-
tive of time zone and switchover to/from daylight-saving time. You can adapt your time zone to the time
signal by entering an offset time (in minutes) on the device or via DIGSI. If the EN100 module is parameter-
ized, you can set the daylight saving time/standard time in DIGSI. Proper functioning is indicated by the fact
that 20 minutes max. after device startup or selection of GPS as time source, the time status is indicated as
synchronized accompanied by the operational indication Clock SyncError (OFF) .
If the time is still indicated as faulted after 20 minutes, check the operational log. If there is no indication
Module Error ON , check the antenna connection.
In continuous operation, with GPS as time signal transmitter, it might happen that the time management
issues the operational indication
be caused by one of the following conditions:
