Functions
2.16 Triple Single Mode
Although the tripping logic and control functions work with 3 poles, the switch-on counters are managed
polewise:
1st cycle:
AR: no. of CLOSE commands A after 1st cycle
AR: no. of CLOSE commands B after 1st cycle
AR: no. of CLOSE commands C after 1st cycle
2nd to 9th cycle:
AR: no. of CLOSE commands A from 2nd cycle on
AR: no. of CLOSE commands B from 2nd cycle on
AR: no. of CLOSE commands C from 2nd cycle on
Mode 1 Phase Trip, 3 Phase Lockout
This mode allows 1-pole TRIP and CLOSE commands to minimize interruptions on faultless phases in a 3-
phase system. This mode is designed for 3-phase systems in which the state is unwanted that one single pole
is open for a longer period of time, for example, if motors are connected.
The TRIP command of a protection function that is not parameterized as automatic reclosing actuation func-
tion leads to a 3-pole TRIP command. If AR is deactivated or blocked, a 1-pole TRIP is not permitted. A 1-pole
TRIP is only permitted if the affected phase is recognized. The ground fault protection and sensitive ground
fault protection functions cannot determine the affected phase. This has to be done in combination with a
phase-related time overcurrent protection function.
2-pole TRIP commands are not allowed in this mode. If more than one phase is detected as faulty, a 3-pole
TRIP is performed. If a protection function causes a TRIP on a second phase during an AR dead time, a 3-pole
TRIP is forced. Then, 3-pole AR can be performed. If 1-pole AR is not successful, a final 3-pole TRIP is initiated.

Mode 1 Phase Trip, 1 Phase Lockout
This mode allows separate control of recloser phases. By controlling the individual poles of the recloser it is
possible to operate simultaneously 1-pole sequences independently on the different phases. Each phase can
reach the status final TRIP.
The final TRIP can only be canceled with a manual operator action. The handling of subsequent faults on other
phases is not influenced by the final TRIP of the already open phase by the 7SC80. If independent automatic
reclosing sequences on 2 or 3 phases occur at the same time, the CLOSE commands are output simultane-
ously. Thus, when switching to a persistent, multi-phase fault, the start of the subsequent AR dead time is
adapted. This prevents the possible case in which the fault time prolongs because the fault changes from one
phase to another. There are independent cycle counters available for every phase.
