IC-7100 is two months old. Power suddenly cut off. Fuses are OK. No obvious damage internally. Can something with the control head cause unit not to power up?

Yes, a control head issue can cause the Icom IC-7100 to not power up. The control head receives power through the extension cable with shielded RJ45 connectors. If there is high resistance in the power wires or a poor connection in the umbilical cable, it may prevent the control head from receiving enough power to function properly. Reseating both connectors may help resolve the issue.

re ICOM 7100. Digital mode operations leave the mike path inoperable. What protocols are required on the DV USB computer/transceiver cable? Transceiver control head display shows USB-D when the intent is USB.
