The Menu control feature restricts/allows access to the other menus;
Operator, Setup and Maintenance. This feature also restricts/allows
access to control panel keys: TearOff, view, and Format. This menu is
only visible after using the following procedure during power up:
Simultaneously depress the FF key and the ↑ key while turning
the power on to the printer.
The printer will power up as normal, but a fourth menu, Menu
Control, will be viewable and accessible.
A format is a set of stored printer parameters tailored to a particular
customer's job, such as invoices, pick tickets, etc. and consists of
setting a format name, font style, character set, country, CPI, LPI,
form length, left margin, right margin, top print reference, left print
reference, horizontal expansion, vertical expansion, print modifiers,
print options, print control, general printer options, and the slew
rate. The customer may set up to 10 different formats.
Setting up a format consists of two steps; modifying and saving a
format.
Up to ten stored formats may be saved for later recall. Each
format should be given a unique name.
The active format is a set of parameters that presently resides in the
printer's processor. When printing starts, these active parameters are
used to format the page.
The active format can be parameters that were entered through the
control panel, sent from the host, or one of the stored formats
selected. The active format is labeled ACTIVE on the status page
printout.
