4.12. PROFIsafe
The Anybus CompactCom 40 PROFINET IRT supports the PROFIsafe profile. This profile makes it possible for a
user to send data on a black channel interface, i.e. a safe channel over PROFINET using an add on Safety Module,
e.g. the IXXAT Safe T100/PS. For more information about this module, see IXXAT Safe T100 Manual, available at
www.ixxat.com.
The application can not control which slot that the safety module will be located in when using ADI based
configuration or modular device configuration, it will always be added into slot 1. When using custom
configuration the safety module can be located in any valid slot, see
(page 16)
for more information.
For an application to support PROFIsafe, the Functional Safety Object have to be implemented in the application.
Slots are assigned using the Command Add_Safety_Module to the Network PROFINET IO object (0Eh). The safe
communication is enabled in the host application Functional Safety Object (E8h).
The Anybus CompactCom serial channel is used for functional safety communication. When this channel is
used for the host application, a second separate serial channel, is implemented for the functional safety
communication, see Anybus CompactCom Hardware Design Guide.
