Fan Assemblies
Use the following procedures to remove and replace the upper or lower fan
assemblies.
6.5.1
Removing a Fan Assembly
1. Power off the workstation, remove the access panel, and attach the antistatic wrist
strap.
See Chapter 5.
Caution – Use proper ESD grounding techniques when handling components. Wear
an antistatic wrist strap and use an antistatic mat. Store ESD-sensitive components in
antistatic bags before placing them on any surface.
2. Disconnect the fan assembly power connectors from the motherboard connector
J3302 for the lower fan assembly or J3303 for the upper fan assembly (
Use a small screwdriver to release the connector tabs.
3. Release the three fan bracket tabs in the chassis.

4. Lift the fan bracket and fans from the chassis.
5. Remove the fan assembly from the bracket.
