Replace the NanoLockSpray reference-probe TaperTip emitter or capillary if either is irreversibly
blocked, contaminated, or damaged.
5.21.1 Removing the NanoLockSpray reference probe
Required materials:
• Chemical-resistant, powder-free gloves
• Combined 2.5-mm hex wrench and cone extraction tool
• Oil-free argon gas or Oil-free nitrogen gas
• HPLC-grade (or better) 1:1 methanol/water
• Wash bottle
• Large beaker
To remove the NanoLockSpray reference probe:

2. Disconnect the reference probe's cable from the instrument's high-voltage connector.
3. Disconnect the capillary from the instrument's IntelliStart Fluidics system.
4. Remove the NanoLockSpray source enclosure from the instrument (see

5. Retrieve the combined 2.5-mm hex wrench and cone extraction tool from its storage
location on the source adapter housing.
6. Using the combined 2.5-mm hex wrench and cone extraction tool, unscrew the three fixing
screws from the top of the NanoLockSpray reference probe.
