Installation Requirements

The ServerNet IIPCI Adapter and Switch require the following items for proper installation and
configuration:
ServerNet II PCI Adapter kit, one per ServerNet II node, as required for your SAN

topology
ServerNet II Switch kit, one per ServerNet II fabric, as required for your SAN topology
I
ServerNet II interfaces (ordered separately; see the section "ServerNet II Kits" in this

chapter for part numbers) or equivalent IEEE 1000Base-CX compliant, copper serial
cables, one or two per Adapter, as required for your SAN topology
Slotted, Phillips, and Torx screwdrivers

8/32-inch nut driver
I
Compliance with the requirements of Microsoft Windows 2000 for Advanced Server

In addition, the Adapter requires the following components for installation in a Compaq
ProLiant server:
Intel Pentium processor-based server with an available half-length PCI expansion slot

Minimum of 16-MB RAM (1 additional MB is required for running diagnostic tests)

WARNING: To avoid the risk of personal injury or damage to the equipment,

equipment before attempting the installation.
Many PCs are capable of producing energy levels that are considered
hazardous. Users should not remove enclosures nor should they bypass the
interlocks provided for removal of these hazardous conditions.
Installation should be performed by individuals who are both qualified in the
servicing of computer equipment and trained in the hazards associated with
products capable of producing hazardous energy levels.
To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the internal
system components to cool before touching.
