Upgrading Drivers

Upgrading an existing installation consists of installing new drivers using the Windows
Device Manager.
IMPORTANT: If you want to upgrade a ServerNet II driver, disable and enable the SPAD2 driver, then
update it. This upgrades all ServerNet II drivers. You should not individually upgrade ServerNet II drivers
(such as SNNDIS, VIVA, or SANMAN).
1. Use one of the following methods to Open the Windows Device Manager:
a. Click Start, select Settings, select Control Panel and double-click the System icon.
b. From the System screen, select the Hardware tab.
c. Click the Device Manager button.
d. Or, right click My Computer on the desktop.
e. From the drop-down menu, select Properties.
f. From the System Properties screen, select the Hardware tab.
Click the Device Manager button.
2. To view the appropriate drivers, click the + symbol next to SAN Adapter to display
the subdirectories:
SAN Adapter/Compaq ServerNet II PCI Adapter Driver
3. Right-click on the ServerNet II PCI Adapter driver entry.
4. Select Disable. You must disable the current Adapter driver before you can successfully
load any new drivers.
5. Right-click on the ServerNet II PCI Adapter driver entry again.
6. Select Properties.
7. Select the Driver tab.
8. Click Update Driver button. The Upgrade Device Wizard appears.
9. Select Display a list of the known drivers for this device and click Next. The Compaq
ServerNet II PCI Adapter should be in the list that appears.
10. Click Have Disk.
11. Click Browse and go to the location of the new driver files from Compaq.
12. Click Open
13. Click OK. A list of hardware models is displayed with the default selection highlighted
based on the type of hardware adapter you have. DO NOT CHANGE THIS SELECTION.
14. Click Next through the next two screens. This completes the installation of the new
driver files.
15. Click Finish and then Close on the next screens.
16. From the Device Manager, right-click the ServerNet II PCI Adapter driver entry.
17. Select Enable. The ServerNet II drivers are loaded for the stack and the upgrade of the
drivers is complete.
