ServerNet II Drivers
When Microsoft Windows 2000 detects the ServerNet II PCI Adapter, the Windows Found New
Hardware Wizard opens and guides you through loading all the ServerNet II drivers
listed below.
ServerNet II PCI Adapter driver (Spad2) — Driver software installed on a ProLiant server
I
running Microsoft Windows Advanced Server or Datacenter Server. Spad2 is comprised
of several ServerNet II drivers:
System Area Network Management driver (SANMan) — Provides the services needed
G
to manage ServerNet II SANs (System Area Networks) for Windows 2000
ServerNet II NDIS Miniport driver (SnNDIS) — Windows 2000 NDIS 5.0-compliant
G
miniport driver; allows the standard Microsoft network architecture access to
ServerNet II hardware
ServerNet II VI (Virtual Interface) driver (VIVA) — Provides application support and
G
VI kernel support over the ServerNet II Adapter device driver (Spad2) and
ServerNet II hardware
Software Applications and Utilities
ServerNet II Configuration Wizard (CONFIGWIZ) — Interface that leads you through
I
configuration of the SAN nodes. You start the ServerNet II Installation from the
ServerNet II CD by selecting the Node Configuration on this screen to invoke
CONFIGWIZ.
ServerNet II Administrative Utility (SANUtil) — Interface that initially helps you
I
configure and define the SAN topology, for example, add and delete nodes and Switches
in the SAN topology, specify port connections, select the SAN fabric for a Switch, view
node and Switch connectivity, and configure a backup server. After you install SANUtil
and configure the node, you can invoke SANUtil from Programs/ServerNet II
Administrative Utility/ ServerNet II Administrative Utility or from the desktop icon.
NOTE: You must first run SANUtil from the Primary administrative node to add the end nodes and
Switches to the topology. After a node is part of the topology, you can then run SANUtil from that end
node and add other nodes or add/change the backup configuration.
ServerNet II OnLine Diagnostics — Series of tests you can run to check the ServerNet II
I
installation, server-to-server and server-to-Switch, and SAN cabling. You can invoke
Diagnostics from Start/Programs/ServerNet Online Diagnostics.
