Adapter Agent Extension

The Adapter agent extension DLL is loaded by the Microsoft Windows 2000 Extendible Agent
at run-time, so that both the DLL and the agent run as a single process. The Adapter agent
extension, like other agent extensions to the Microsoft Windows 2000 Extendible Agent, is
implemented as a Win32 DLL.
Microsoft Windows 2000 extension agent APIs are the functions called by the Microsoft
Windows 2000 Extendible Agent and executed by agent extensions, including the Adapter agent
extension. The Microsoft Windows 2000 Extendible Agent calls these functions to:
Load the Adapter agent extension DLL with the Microsoft Windows 2000 Extendible
I
Agent.
Pass SNMP Get and Set requests to the Adapter agent extension DLL.

Direct the Adapter agent extension DLL to provide the Adapter trap data that it detects

Adapter Management Information Base

The Adapter MIB defines the structure, data types, values, and meaning of Adapter objects.
Compaq distributes the Adapter MIB source file (pcisnet.mib) with the Adapter agent extension
DLL file and ServerNet II DAL DLL file.
SNMP managers use their MIB compilers to add the Adapter MIB data structure to their own
MIB databases. SNMP managers maintain and update their MIBs with data supplied in
GetResponse PDUs returned by the Windows 2000 Extendible Agent.
