a. If your configuration contains a Switch, be sure the first option, Configure this node as
the PRIMARY ADMINISTRATIVE node, is selected. This selection makes this node
the primary administrative ("management") node for the SAN. (Only one node in a
switched SAN topology can be the primary administrative node.)
b. For a switchless SAN topology without a ServerNet II Switch without an
administrative node, see the section "Configuring a Switchless SAN Topology" in this
chapter.
10. Click Next. The ServerNet II Configuration Wizard – Step 2 of 3 (for the primary
administrative node) appears.
NOTE: This screen differs for end node and switchless configurations.
11. Ensure that the Computer Name is what you named this server when you installed
Windows 2000 and is the server from which you are running the ServerNet II Installation.
To find or check the computer name:
a. Right click My Computer on the desktop.
b. Select Properties.
c. Click the "Network Identification" tab. The "Full computer name:" is the machine
name.
Or
a. Click Start/Programs/Accessories/Command Prompt or access the command prompt in
the manner desired.
b. Enter "hostname" at the prompt. The machine name is displayed.
IMPORTANT: Later, you will use the "Computer Name" when adding the end nodes to the SAN topology.
This name is synonymous with the "Node Name" you are prompted to enter in the ServerNet II
Administrative Utility when you add a node. See the section "Creating the SAN Topology" in this chapter
for information.
