snetSwitchPacketLevelError

ServerNet II Switch has detected packet level errors, such as, bad packet CRC, bad
length, or bad packet destination.
Bad CRC and bad length indicate that a packet was damaged in transit. Occasional
occurrence of these errors is not unexpected.
Bad packet destination indicates that the router discarded a packet because the lookup of
the destination ID in the router table returned defective data. This could indicate bad
cabling, bad configuration, or a security issue, such as a node trying to illegally access
the SAN.

Returned Variable
Possible Cause
Identifies the switch that detected the error
The switch name. If no name is defined, this field will be blank.
Indicates the port that detected the error
Indicates the current value of the link error counter
Contain the packet errors on the same port
Contain the IBC errors on the same port
Possible Solution
Run diagnostics to validate offending nodes
Check cable connections (check if link alive error has also occurred)
Verify that link error has also occurred and replace cable
Switch Configuration may be incorrect. Check the router table to
make sure it is set. Reconfigure switch if necessary.
Run diagnostics to ensure that nodes at both ends of the cable or
communicating properly. Replace if necessary.
A node may be trying to break into the network. Isolate the node and
verify SAN membership.
