3-6 Compaq ServerNet II PCI Adapter and Switch Installation Guide
Example 2: Running the Topology Test in Batch Mode
When run in the batch mode, the topology test first obtains a description of the SAN topology
from the SANMan. Next, the test explores the SAN to discover which components are attached
to the SAN and how they are connected to each other. The discovered information is compared
with the expected information, differences are reported on the computer monitor (where the test
is being executed) and recorded in a text file.
The report first shows if the test passed or failed. The test passed if it finds no differences
between the expected and discovered SAN. The report then states the name of the local-host
computer on which the test was run. Next, the report lists all the nodes (nodes and Switches)
configured in the SAN. If the test passed, the information is complete.
The report lists the name and GUID (Globally Unique IDs) for any expected nodes found during
the SAN discovery process. If any unconfigured nodes were discovered attached to the SAN
(that were not added using SANUtil), these nodes are listed next. The GUID of the unconfigured
node is given, as well as the source route along which it was discovered. The name of the
unconfigured node is not known.
The final section of the report lists the expected and actual port connections of those nodes
configured in the SAN with incorrectly connected ports. The actual port connections are only
given where they are different than the expected connections.
Figure 3-2 shows an example of topology tests results.
NOTE: In this example, Local Port 0 is Port X; Local Port 1 is Port Y.
