Diagnotics Tests: Interactive Mode

Running Diagnostics in interactive mode lets you perform the echo and routing tests for selected
nodes and paths. You can run the following tests while in interactive mode:
Echo test to one or more nodes in the SAN

Link (routing) check for one or more paths between the local-host nodes in the SAN and

any other node
Both an echo and the routing test for every node in the SAN

NOTE: The topology test cannot be run alone from interactive mode, but can be run with other
Diagnostic tests.
Use the interactive mode to perform fewer tests than in batch mode. (For information about
batch mode, see Chapter 3.) Interactive mode runs specific tests and can produce more detailed
messages about a specific failure.
Scope of Testing

Interface (CLI)
NOTE: Diagnostic tests verify only that the ServerNet II SAN components are functioning normally. They
do not verify that applications are working normally.
Start the CLI by executing the

Test results are displayed in the CLI window, such as shown in Figure H-10.
To terminate an interactive mode session, enter:
% exit
