Compaq Insight Manager XE (CIM XE)

ServerNet II is compatible with the Compaq web-based management tool, Insight Manager XE
(CIM XE). Using CIM XE from a web browser, you can connect to a server running Insight
Manager XE and monitor and manage all ServerNet II nodes and Switches.

Requirements for Operation

You need the following software to run CIM XE and monitor ServerNet II from CIM XE:
CIM XE software — Provided on the Compaq Management CD packaged with all

Compaq ProLiant servers
Compaq Insight Manager XE ServerNet II Extension and the ServerNet II SNMP agents

— Provided on the ServerNet II CD packaged with the ServerNet II Adapter
NOTE: You can also download the Compaq Insight Manager XE ServerNet II Extension and the ServerNet
II SNMP agents (along with all the required drivers) from the Compaq Support Paq for Windows 2000 on
the Compaq website.
To manage all the ServerNet II nodes in the SAN, you must install the Compaq Insight Manager
XE ServerNet II Extension and the ServerNet II SNMP agents on each SAN end node. Software
to monitor ServerNet II from CIM XE is provided.
You can install the Compaq management agents either before or after installing the ServerNet II
drivers and applications. If you install these before the ServerNet II applications, you must stop
and then start the Compaq Web Agent from the Services menu before ServerNet II data is
available.

What CIM Monitors
With CIM XE, you can monitor the following ServerNet II information:
Version numbers of the ServerNet II Software and drivers currently loaded on the system
