Switch Management Information Base

The ServerNet II Switch MIB defines the structure, data types, values, and meaning of
ServerNet II Switch objects. Compaq distributes the ServerNet II Switch MIB source file
(switchsnet.mib) with the ServerNet II Switch agent extension DLL file and ServerNet II Switch
DAL DLL file.
SNMP managers use their MIB compilers to add the ServerNet II Switch MIB data structure to
their own MIB databases. SNMP managers maintain and update their MIBs with data supplied
in GetResponse PDUs returned by the Microsoft Windows 2000 Extendible Agent.

ServerNet II Adapter SNMP Management Tools

This section describes the ServerNet II PCI Adapter (the "Adapter") and the SNMP-compliant
tools used to manage it.
The following Compaq components are used to implement SNMP management of the Adapter:
The Adapter agent extension DLL to the Microsoft Windows 2000 Extendible Agent,

contained in the file pciae.dll. When loaded by the Microsoft Windows 2000 Extendible
Agent, the Adapter agent extension DLL enables authorized SNMP managers to read or
write accessible Adapter object values. Adapter objects, which are defined by the Adapter
MIB, include Adapter hardware and firmware and Adapter driver software. The structure
and meaning of the Adapter objects are documented in the Adapter MIBs ASN.1
source file.
The Adapter MIB source file, contained in the file pcisnet.mib.

The ServerNet II Device Access Layer (DAL) DLL to the Adapter agent extension,

contained in the file DAL.DLL. The ServerNet II Adapter DAL is situated between the
Adapter agent extension DLL and the Adapter driver software. Although it is not an
SNMP application, the ServerNet II Adapter DAL provides the common code that
performs Get and Set operations on accessible Adapter object variables.
