I-2 Compaq ServerNet II PCI Adapter and Switch Installation Guide
Get requests for ServerNet II Switch data originate from SNMP management applications and
must be routed to the primary System Area Network Management Software (SANMan). Only
the agent on the primary SANMan will respond to requests for ServerNet II Switch data. All
other agents will respond with the SNMP error No_Such_Name. If the SANMan fails over to
the backup node, the management application must redirect its queries to the backup IP address.
Figure I-1 shows tools used to manage the ServerNet II Switch. Shaded boxes identify Compaq
products that are documented in this guide. Figure I-1 also shows that:
SNMP managers can reside on any node that is connected to the ServerNet II Switch or
I
reside on a remote node that is connected to the backup and primary SANMan by a LAN.
SNMP retrieves data only from the primary SANMan.
