Figure I-2 shows that the SNMP manager can reside on a node connected by a LAN or on one
of the nodes connected by the ServerNet II SAN to the target ServerNet II Switch. If the SNMP
manager is on a remote LAN node, then the ServerNet II Switch's primary SANMan node must
itself be directly connected to that LAN. If the SNMP manager is on another node of the
ServerNet II Switch, then SNMP requests are routed through the ServerNet II SAN to the
primary SANMan node.
The SNMP management application needs a list of IP addresses of all potential primary
SANMan nodes in the SAN. The management application can issue SNMP requests to the list
