STEERING / SUSPENSION

STEERING RACK INSTALLATION

1. Install the steering rack from the LH side of the
vehicle. Rotate the steering rack as necessary.
2. Install the fasteners that hold the steering rack
gearbox
to
the
vehicle.
specification.
TORQUE
Steering Rack Fasteners:
16 lb-ft (20 Nm)
3. Install the lower steering shaft to the steering rack
gearbox. Refer to "Steering Shaft Installation -
Lower"page 8.11 procedure.

4. Install the fasteners securing the tie rods end to the
front
bearing
carriers.

TORQUE
Tie Rod Jam Nut:
15 lb-ft (20 Nm)
5. Verify front wheel alignment. Refer to "Wheel Toe
Alignment Inspection"page 2.34 procedure.
6. Install the wheel nuts and wheels from the vehicle.
Refer to "Wheel Installation"page

WHEEL TOE ALIGNMENT INSPECTION

1. Place machine on a smooth level surface and set
steering wheel in a straight ahead position. Secure
the steering wheel in this position.
2. Place a chalk mark on the center line of the front tires
approximately 10" (25.4 cm) from the floor or as close
to the hub/axle center line as possible (1).
NOTICE
It is important the height of both marks be equally
positioned to get an accurate measurement.
