8. Apply Loctite
®
271 (Red) to the outer circumference
of the new upper bearing race. Slide the new upper
bearing onto the steering shaft and press it into the
pivot tube by hand.
Use care not to allow any of the Loctite
bearing.
Bearings will be seated in the pivot housing upon
tightening the steering wheel nut in step 14.
9. Install the steering wheel and hand tighten the nut.
10. Reinstall the steering shaft assembly in the vehicle.
Install the lower portion of the steering shaft onto the
steering gear box assembly. Torque the lower pinch
bolt to 40 ft-lbs (54 Nm).
11. Install the (2) fasteners that retain the pivot tube.
Torque fasteners to 18 ft-lbs (24 Nm).
12. Install the fastener retaining the upper portion of the
steering wheel tilt shock to the pivot tube. Torque
fastener to 7 ft-lbs (10 Nm).
13. Be sure the front wheels are facing straight forward.
Remove the steering wheel and align as needed.
Torque the steering wheel nut to 65 ft-lbs (88 Nm).
14. Wipe the pivot tube clean of any excess Loctite
15. Install steering wheel cap and field test steering
operation.

POWER STEERING UNIT REMOVAL

1. Remove upper steering shaft and steering wheel
(see "Steering Wheel Removal - EPS models").
2. Using a 15mm socket, remove the fastener retaining
the lower steering shaft to the power steering unit.
3. Secure the power steering unit and remove the (4)
fasteners (A) retaining the power steering mount to
the frame.

4. Remove the (3) fasteners retaining the power
steering mount to the power steering unit.
Electronic Power Steering (EPS) units are not
interchangeable between ATV and RANGER product

POWER STEERING UNIT INSTALLATION

1. Install the power steering unit onto the mount bracket
and torque power steering mounting bolts to
specification.
EPS Unit to EPS Mount:30 ft-lbs (41 Nm)
2. Align the skip-tooth spline on the power steering
output shaft with the opening in the lower power
steering shaft.
3. Install power steering and mount assembly to the
frame and torque fasteners to specification.
EPS Mount to Frame:14 ft-lbs (19 Nm)
®.
4. Install the pinch bolt retaining the lower power
steering shaft to the power steering unit. Torque to
specification.
Lower Power Steering Shaft Pinch Bolt:15 ft-lbs (20

steering shaft assembly to the proper mounting
location.
