5.7.1 Enhanced Password Security

The password function has
been enhanced and provides
two levels of passwords. With
Sentry Display software
version 1.24 and later, each
function can be programmed
independently as shown in
figure at right. The level 1
password would typically be
provided to anyone who must
change commonly used
functions such as 'Start
Profile' or 'Select Status'. The
level 2 passwords would only
be known to management to
access functions such as
'Configure Network' or 'Alarm
Setup'.
The 'access level' can be set to the following values:
0
no password protection
1
minimum level 1 password required (i.e. level 2 password is also accepted)
2
level 2 password is required (access denied to level 1 password)
3
level 2 password required, can only be accessed at master display panel
4
no password protection, but can only be accessed at master display
To set password security, under the "NETWORK" menu, choose Change password, then choose Setup.
Place the desired access level beside each password protectable function. The access level for 'Change
Password' must only be set to 1 or 2. If set to level 1 then someone with a level 1 password can view but
not modify this setup screen. If set to level 2 then only someone who knows level 2 password can view
and change this setup screen or change the level 1 password.
To change a password, choose the level to be changed from the Change Password submenu, then select
'Enable Password', then type the new password. Note: The first time the display panel is powered up
there may be a message saying "Invalid Password. Disabled password protection", this is normal and can
be ignored. Exit the dialog box which asks for the password and try again.
If the user is setting level 1 password and there is no level 2 password, level 2 password will become the
same password. If the level 2 password is disabled, then the level 1 password will also be disabled.
