Appendix B: Troubleshooting Guide
The following table lists problems that may be encountered by the operator and suggests possible
solutions for correcting the problem.
The display panel keeps displaying a message
saying 'Network Error display panel not polled'.
A machine is no longer shown in some of the
machine selection screens.
After configuration has been completed, one or
more machines are not shown in the 'Select
Status' screen.
The printer puts random characters on the page
when performing the "PRINT SCREEN" function.
The printer does not print anything after selecting
a printed report or pressing "PRINT SCREEN". A
'Printer Error' message is shown after a few
seconds.
After canceling a printer job due to an error, the
display says the print job is still active in the
'Printer Status' screen.
The display panel screen keeps blanking out when
it is not used for a while.
Problem
Solution
Check to make sure that the display panel is
active in the 'Select Status' screen on the master
display. If the master display shows a
communication alarm for that display then there
is a problem with a fiber optic connection to that
display.
Check to make sure that the machine is active in
the 'Select Status' screen. If it is active but was
previously off, then try pressing the "PAGE UP"
key in the machine selection screen to bring the
unit back into view.
Make sure that all machines are powered up when
configuration takes place, else the master display
will not know that the unit exists on the network.
This problem could also indicate a problem with
the fiber optic cabling.
An incorrect printer driver is selected. Check the
printer manual to determine what compatibility
modes your printer supports.
Check to make sure the printer is powered on, has
paper, and is on-line. Check that the printer cable
is hooked up properly to the display panel. Refer
to the printer manual for more information.
The display needs to 'clean up' internally before
it can cancel the job, which requires that the
display be able to communicate to the printer (i.e.
the printer problem needs to be corrected first).
Alternatively the 'Stop & Reset Printer' function
can be used to force the print job to be canceled.
The display has a built in screen sever feature
which is activated when there is no keypad
activity for 15 minutes. Simply press any key to
restore the screen.
