Appendix C: Address Setting
Each unit on the network must have a unique address. On the Sentry system an address is constructed
from the room number, unit type and unit number. All three switch groups must be set for proper unit
identification. The addressing is accomplished by setting the appropriate switches on the PTA410 and
PTA411 boards.
In addition to setting the proper address, on the display panel switches 7 and 8 of the address switches
(labeled SW4) need to be set. On a network one of the displays must be set to 'Master'. This is
accomplished by setting switch 7 to be OFF (or OPEN). All other display panels must have switch 7 ON
for the network to operate properly. Switch 8 functionality is not currently implemented and should be set
to the ON (or CLOSED) position for all display panels.
Currently only one of the OPTION switches (labeled SW3) is used. Switch 1 selects whether the
Hatchcom II computer is connected to this display panel. If Hatchcom is connected then this switch must
be OFF (or OPEN), else the switch must be ON.
The following illustrations shows the necessary switch settings for the different addresses on the PTA
410 board. Switch settings for JM machines are located on pages 120 and 121. NOTE: OFF is equivalent
to OPEN. The numbers at the top of the tables represent the DIP switch position.
The PTA410 may have either one
of the two switches illustrated above.
This illustration shows a switch in the
"on" or "closed" position.
