EMC VNX VG2/VG8 Gateway Configuration Setup Guide
If you change private IP addresses, it is highly recommended that you make the
change during the installation process instead of after the installation by using this
appendix.
The blades and Control Station communicate with each other by using a private IP
network. By default, this network uses IP addresses on the 128.221.252, 128.221.253,
and 128.221.254 subnets. If your existing IP network also uses addresses on these
subnets, you must change the private network addresses of your VNX gateway to
different subnets, and they must be Class C subnets. The network server cannot have
the same subnets configured for both its private (internal) and public (external)
network connections.
Note: This procedure requires rebooting the blades. Ensure to schedule this procedure with the
customer for a time when reboots are acceptable. This procedure takes a few hours to complete.
Table 7 on page 174
page 175
lists the default secondary private network addresses. The Control Station
and blades have redundant connections on separate subnets. Ensure that you keep
these two subnets separate. Start by filling in the new address values you want to use.
Note that you cannot change the final octet of the address.

If you must change the private IP addresses from their default values, use Class C subnets for the new subnet values.
