Using naviseccli

Note: If the array is using a FLARE version prior to Release 30, you must use Navisphere
Manager (not Unisphere).

instructions for performing required tasks.
To verify a global user account (name and password) by using Unisphere, complete
the following steps:
1. To access Unisphere, enter the IP address for your system in a browser.
2. If security is enabled, Unisphere prompts you for a username and password:
a. Enter the administrator username and password to log in, and verify that the
password is global.
b. Go to
step 4 on page 133
3. If security is not enabled, Unisphere prompts you to set up security:
a. Click Yes to initialize global security and set up a security administrator
account for the customer.
b. In the Create Global Administrator window, enter the customer's username
and password, confirm the password, and click OK.
Keep the defaults for Storage Domain Role as administrator and
Global/Local as global.
4. To set up an administrator account for the VNX gateway:
a. Go to Domains > Manage Global Users. The Global User Management
window appears.
b. Click Add to add another user.
c. In the Add Global User window, enter the username and password, confirm
the password, and click OK:
– An example for a username is vnx<last_4_digits_of_product_serial_number>
as in vnx0123.
– An example for a password is nasadmin.
– Keep the defaults for Storage Domain Role as Administrator.
To verify a global user account (name and password) by using Navisphere CLI,
complete the following steps at the command line prompt:
Note: The naviseccli commands in this section need to be run only once. You need not run the
command for both SPs.
1. To determine whether security is enabled, run the following command:
# naviseccli -User user -Password password -Scope 0
-h <SP_IP> security -list
The <SP_IP> is the IP address or hostname of one of the VNX storage processors.
If security is enabled, authentication fails because you are using invalid user and
password arguments. In this case:
a. Ask the customer for a valid username and password to create the gateway
account.
