EMC VNX VG2/VG8 Gateway Configuration Setup Guide
The power cables connect the VNX cabinet to the customer's power supply circuits.
To ensure high availability, ensure that each cabinet power cable connects to a
different circuit.
The power cables connect the VNX VG2/VG8 system components to the customer's
power supply circuits. Blades have two power supplies. To ensure high availability,
connect each blade power supply to a different circuit.
EMC cabinets have a PDP on each side of the cabinet. Each PDP connects to a
different branch circuit.
Refer to
Figure 91 on page 137
To power up the VNX gateway:
1. Connect the four 240-volt AC power cables from the cabinet to the power outlets
provided by the customer. To ensure high availability, connect each cable to a
different circuit.
2. From the rear of the cabinet, connect the blade enclosure power cables as follows:
a. Connect the power cables on the right side of the cabinet to the PDP on the
right side.
b. Connect the power cables on the left side of the cabinet to the PDP on the left
side.
3. Turn on all of the circuit breakers on each of the cabinet's power strips, including
the main breakers.
CAUTION
If you are using a Symmetrix array (DMX, VMAX, or VMAXe) for your boot
array, you must have EMC configure the array with the required hypervolumes
for the VNX system volumes and user volumes before continuing.
