Enabling RIP

Perform this task to create a RIP process and enable the RIP process on the interface attached to
the specified network. An interface that is not on the specified network does not run RIP.
If you configure RIP settings in interface view before enabling RIP, the settings do not take effect until
RIP is enabled. If a physical interface is attached to multiple networks, you cannot advertise these
networks in different RIP processes.
To enable RIP:

Enter system view.

Enable RIP on the interface

Configuring a RIP version

A RIPv1-enabled interface sends RIPv1 broadcasts, and can receive RIPv1 broadcasts and
unicasts.
A RIPv2-enabled multicast interface sends RIPv2 multicasts and can receive RIPv2 unicasts,
broadcasts, and multicasts.
