Triggering OSPF GR

An active/standby MPU switchover in standalone mode, a global active/standby MPU switchover in
IRF mode, or the following command triggers OSPF GR.
To trigger OSPF GR, perform the following command in user view:
Task
Trigger OSPF GR.

Configuring OSPF NSR

In standalone mode, with OSPF NSR, the standby MPU backs up link state information from the
active MPU. Upon an active/standby MPU switchover, the link state information can recover
automatically and the routes can be regenerated without tearing down the adjacencies or impacting
other services.
In IRF mode, with OSPF NSR, the global standby MPU backs up link state information from the
global active MPU. Upon a global active/standby MPU switchover, the link state information can
recover automatically and the routes can be regenerated without tearing down the adjacencies or
impacting other services.
GR requires the cooperation of neighboring devices to recover routing information during the
active/standby MPU switchover period in standalone mode or global active/standby MPU switchover
period in IRF mode. NSR does not require that, and is more popular in practice.
IMPORTANT:
Do not configure OSPF NSR on a device acting as GR restarter.
