Configuring OSPFv3 timers

Make sure that the dead interval set on neighboring interfaces is not too short; otherwise, a neighbor
is easily considered down. Also, make sure that the LSA retransmission interval is not too short;
otherwise, unnecessary retransmissions might occur.
To configure OSPFv3 timers:
Step
Enter system view.
1.
Enter interface view.
2.
Configure the hello interval.
3.
Specify the poll interval.
4.
Configure the dead interval.
5.
Configure the LSA
6.
retransmission interval.
Configure the LSA
7.
transmission delay.
Return to system view.
8.
Enter OSPFv3 view.
9.
10. Configure the SPF timers.

Configuring a DR priority for an interface

The DR priority of an interface determines the interface's qualification in DR election. Interfaces
having the priority 0 cannot become a DR or BDR.
To configure a DR priority for an interface:
Command
system-view
interface interface-type
interface-number
ospfv3 timer hello seconds
[ instance instance-id ]
ospfv3 timer poll seconds
[ instance instance-id ]
ospfv3 timer dead seconds
[ instance instance-id ]
ospfv3 timer retransmit interval
[ instance instance-id ]
ospfv3 trans-delay seconds
[ instance instance-id ]
quit
ospfv3 [ process-id ]
spf timers delay-interval

Optional.
By default, the hello interval is 10
seconds on P2P and broadcast
interfaces.
Optional.
By default, the poll interval is 120
seconds.
Optional.
By default, the dead interval is 40
seconds on P2P and broadcast
interfaces.
Optional.
By default, the LSA
retransmission interval is 5
seconds.
Optional.
By default, the LSA transmission
delay is 1 second.

Optional.
By default, delay-interval is 5
seconds, and hold-interval is 10
seconds.
Setting both the delay-interval
and hold-interval to 0 triggers an
SPF calculation at once,
improving the network
convergence speed.
