6.1 Overview of the converter functions
The protection and monitoring functions prevent damage to the motor, inverter and driven
load, e.g. using temperature monitoring or torque monitoring.
The application-specific functions control, for example, a motor holding brake – or allow
higher-level closed-loop pressure or temperature controls to be implemented using the
technology controller.
The safety functions fulfill increased requirements regarding the functional safety of the
drive.
The basic functions safely switch off the drive torque.
The extended safety functions monitor the drive speed. You require a license to use the
extended functions.
The extended safety functions are described in the "Safety Integrated" function manual.
The basic positioner traverses an axis with position control to a target position.
You require a license to use the basic positioner.
